TEN FWD is a design studio focused on building playful, beautiful technology that matters. With an emphasis on understanding the needs, skills, and motivations of real people, we create digital experiences that are a pleasure to use.
What we do
Design research: We gather insights from potential users, and translate design research into product requirements.
User Experience (UX) and Interaction Design: We create novel digital experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
Event planning: We organize workshops, hackathons, and playful gatherings related to human-centered design.
Writing and content strategy: We help companies and organizations produce and distribute compelling digital stories.
Alexis Hope (TEN FWD Creative Director) is a designer, technologist, and research affiliate at the MIT Media Lab and Center for Civic Media. Alexis is the lead interaction designer for FOLD, an open publishing platform developed at MIT to help people tell complex stories by annotating text with multimedia. FOLD is used by journalists, educators, and organizations around the world. Prior to joining MIT, Alexis led a project to develop a portable ultrasound machine for midwives in Seattle, Uganda, and Kenya. Alexis was a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow from 2012 - 2015 focusing on bringing human-centered and participatory research methodologies to technology design. As part of this work, she helps organize unique hackathons and civic technology workshops.
